2 IGGS Students Win District Level Martial Art Competition

Chandrapur: 2 students of Indira Gandhi Garden School (IGGS) run by Education and Cultural Society have won the district level martial arts competition. Under-14 winners Kavya Kuntewar (Class 6) and Soumyata Sringarpawar (Class 9) have been selected for the divisional level competition.

Directorate of Sports and Youth Services, Pune, District Sports Officer Office, District Sports Council and Chandrapur Municipal Corporation organized a Thang-Ta Martial Art Competition for schools under Chandrapur Municipal Corporation area as well as those across the district. Around 150 students from around 20 schools in the city along with those from across the district participated in this competition held at the District Sports Complex.

Both the winners played 5 rounds each in the tournament and defeated their opponents in eachround to clinch the first position in their respective groups. Sports teachers of the school Vishal Chavan and Reshma Pathan guided the preparation of the competition.

The winning students were felicitated at the school by the Principal Bawani Jaykumar. The vice president of the school management committee Rahul Puglia, office bearers and members of the committee, school administrator Jaykumar sir, all the teachers and staff have congratulated the winning students.
