As per report, Narayan Pademwar and Ramu Pademwar are brothers and live in Bhivapur ward in the city. Ramu is suffering from oral cancer since three months. He was taken to some God-man and Tantriks for remedy, but they were told that somebody close in the family is practicing back magic to cause ailment to Ramu. Hence, the family members of Ramu started blaming Narayan’s family for practicing back magic and causing disease to him.

Narayan had gone to RK square in Bhiwapur ward to have a tea. His father Ashalu too came to the place and slapped him in public alleging him of practicing black magic. Soon, one other Narayan’s brother Nursingh with his nephew Sinnu Radadi came to place and started beating him. On learing about the attack on their father, Narayan’s family members rushed to the spot. However, others from Aashalu and Nursing side too joined the assailants. They thrashed Narayan, his two daughters Arti and Puja and his minor son Akash with sticks, kicks and punches. Minor Akash is learnt to have suffer serious injury on his face, while the girls have escaped with minor injuries in the attack.

As Daily Postmortem learnt about the case, its correspondent summoned the social worker Bhushan Fuse and ANIS office bearers Anil Dahagaonkar to the aid of the victim Narayan’s family. These social worker met Narayan’s daughter Puja and learnt about entire incident and sloppy approach of the cops who had registered Non-cognizable case in the matter. Later, the Editor of Daily Postmortem, Sunil Tayde called PSO of City police station, Sudhakar Ambhore and brought the seriousness of the matter into the case into his knowledge. PSO Ambhore immediately took strong cognizance of the matter and summoned the entire victim family to the police station. He met the victims and dispatched a police team to arrest the assailants. In no time, around 8 to 10 attackers were arrested and brought to the police station.

A process of altering the FIR and registering proper offence under sections of IPC and Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013 was underway till filing of this report.

It must be mentioned here that this is third case of witch hunt in Chandrapur district. Earlier seven members of two dalit families were bound and thrashed brutally by mob of people in village Wani in Jiwti tehsil on August 21. Later in one similar incident, three members of family were trashed (one of them bound and thrashed) by five assailants in Midhala village in Nagbhid tehsil on August 31. While the matter is still hot and officials are under scanner for not being able to stop such case, a new incident has put a serious challenge before the administration.
