Chandrapur, Nov 28: ( Sunil Tayade ) The shocking instances of the misuse of official vehicles hired for WCL and also the employees of Western Coalfields Limited Chandrapur area for the picnic trip of the Mayuri Club, a club of women family members of WCL officers here, has come to fore. The rampant misuse of government facilities and employees for personal use has raised the question mark on the administration of WCL Chandrapur area.
As per reports, a picnic was organized for the families of the officers under WCL Chandrapur area in the premises of Chichpalli Hanuman Temple on Chandrapur-Mul road on Saturday. Going on a picnic trip, having fun is a personal matter and no one is against it. The Mayuri Club has been established for the women of the officer class. The ex-officio president of the club is the wife of the area general manager. Although the Mayuri club president has the right to take family members on a picnic for recreation, the company does not have the right to offer government vehicles or staff to facilitate their picnic or recreation.
At times when WCL is claiming of heavy losses and taking up measures to curb the financial benefits to the company workers to minimize the losses, the rampant misuse of manpower, assets and money of the company has raised the eyebrows. Eye witnesses claimed that while the official vehicles of WCL were used for transportation of women as well as material needed for the picnic, the security personnel and cooks were taken the picnic spot of security and cooking purpose. The private use of WCL manpower and assets has incurred losses intune with lakhs of rupees on the government exchequer. Now the question is who is going to reimburse the these losses.
INTUC general secretary, KK Singh has lambasted officials for misuse of WCL assets and manpower for personal entertainment of family members of the WCL officer. He has flayed the such abuse of power by the officials for their family and demanded recovery of entire expenses from the officials involved in the arrangement of picnic for Mayuri club members. He has claimed of filing a complaint with WCL headquarters with the necessary evidences and have demanded high level inquiry and strict action against the erring officials.
