Chandrapur, Aug 29: A giant showroom of internationally popular motorbike is coming up in an illegally constructed building in Pagalbaba Nagar along the Ballarpur Bypass road here. While the owners of the plot are running a marriage hall cum lawn illegally over the place, now they have started construction of a grand showroom facing the bypass road.
The plot having 0.49 ha land (Gat No. 369/7) is located along the bypass road and it belongs to the coal bearing area. WCL has marked the entire stretch for its future mining projects. It is therefore any kind of construction over the land is prohibited. The land in question is green land (agricultural land) and no commercial activity is allowed over it.
However, it has turned out that the plot owners have been running a marriage hall cum lawn on the place for the last many years, evading taxes of Chandrapur Municipal Corporation. They have already constructed a grand marriage hall illegally over the place. However, as the marriage halls have seen little business during the covid pandemic, the plot owners have now started illegally constructing a grand showroom for a popular motorbike.
When asked about the construction permission for the showroom being built on the said plot, city town planner Morey said that the proposal for construction has been out rightly rejected. He explained that no permission for the construction could be provided in such a coal belt area. Sources in tehsildar office too confirmed that conversion of said plot into Non-Agricultural land is not possible as it is a coal bearing area. The officer said that any commercial construction over agricultural land is illegal and strong action will be taken against such structures.
